First Visit

Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally, surgery can be done the same day as the consultation.  Most non-emergent care, however, is scheduled at another visit so we can better prepare you for the surgical experience, and help you with your insurance coverage or assist you with reimbursement. The consultation helps us to better schedule surgeries so we can reduce your waiting as much as possible.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

  • Your surgical referral slip and any x-rays if applicable.
  • A list of medications you are presently taking.
  • If you have medical or dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.

IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation and surgery visits.

A preoperative consultation and physical examination is mandatory for patients having IV anesthesia associated with their surgery. Please have nothing to eat or drink six hours prior to your surgery.  We ask that you take your regularly scheduled medications with just enough water to swallow unless told otherwise.  You will also need an adult that will be here during your surgery and be able to drive you home.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that you think may be of concern prior to surgery. [This includes but is not limited to: pregnancy, diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints,  transplant surgery, recent major surgery, osteoporosis, cancer, free bleeding, being on dialysis, or taking medicines like (aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflamatory drugs, prednisone, coumadin, Fosamax or Boniva)]

X-Rays

If your dentist or physician has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.

Cone Beam CT

Our practice utilizes state-of-the-art, limited field cone-beam CT (computed tomography) technology to provide highly accurate 3-D radiographic images for the diagnosis, planning and treatment of our patients.  Undistorted, anatomically correct views of the jaws, teeth and facial bones along with cross-sectional, axial, coronal and sagittal views are easily generated.  Three-dimensional imaging enable levels of anatomical accuracy and patient care not possible with 2-D technology.  With this technology our doctors are able to three dimensionally treatment plan implant surgeries on the computer thus removing the guess work about whether implants can be used and if bone grafting will be necessary.
